Handpainted Irises
An Elizabeth Blackadder watercolour inspired a client to request a similar image of irises for her kitchen wall.
Irises were handpainted onto 10cm cream-glazed tiles using a layered ceramic painting technique.
The delicate image was fired to become a tough, durable, easy-clean wall surface above the kitchen hob.
The cooker is positioned prominently in most kitchens, so the open wall space above a newly-installed cooker is usually an ideal location for a special ceramic feature.
